Physical and Chemical Properties | Brown powder. Water-soluble red yellow, slightly soluble in ethylene glycol ether, insoluble in other organic solvents. Its aqueous solution with concentrated hydrochloric acid was olive-yellow; Concentrated sodium hydroxide produced a gold-orange precipitate. Dark red in concentrated sulfuric acid, diluted dark yellow, with Brown precipitation. Partially dissolved in concentrated nitric acid, yellow-brown to olive-colored. Partially dissolved in concentrated hydrochloric acid was black. The staining color was green when copper ion was encountered, slightly dark red when iron ion was encountered, and turned to light yellow orange when zinc ion and ammonia were encountered. |
Hazard Symbols | Xi - Irritant |
Risk Codes | 36/37/38 - Irritating to eyes, respiratory system and skin. |
Safety Description | S26 - In case of contact with eyes, rinse immediately with plenty of water and seek medical advice. S36 - Wear suitable protective clothing. |

use | direct yellow r can be used for dyeing cotton, viscose fiber and their knitwear to obtain bright red and yellow. Levelness and migration are poor. After dyeing, it needs to be treated with fixing agent to improve wet fastness. It is mostly used for dyeing viscose fiber and silk interwoven fabric. It can also be used for dyeing silk and wool. This product has a strong light brittle effect. Used for dyeing paper and cotton fabric |
Production method | Using 5-nitroo-toluenesulfonic acid as raw material, it is heated in an aqueous solution of sodium hydroxide, and the self-condensation reaction occurs to obtain the product. Due to different sodium hydroxide concentration, reaction temperature, and reaction time, various yellow dyes or dye mixtures can be obtained. |

chemical properties | brown powder. Soluble in water is red and yellow, slightly soluble in glycol ether, insoluble in other organic solvents. Its aqueous solution with concentrated hydrochloric acid is olive yellow; concentrated sodium hydroxide produces gold-orange precipitate. It is dark red in concentrated sulfuric acid, dark yellow after dilution, accompanied by brown precipitation. It is partially dissolved in concentrated nitric acid and turns olive in yellow brown. It was partially dissolved in concentrated hydrochloric acid and was black. When dyeing, the color light of copper ions turns green, the color light of iron ions is slightly dark red, and the color light of zinc ions and ammonia becomes light yellow and orange. |
